12 oz chili sauce (I like the heinz variety)
8 oz grape jelly.....
heat the two together until all jelly has melted....pour over meatballs and warm...Very gooooood
Meatballs
2 lbs ground chuck
1/2 ketchup
1/2 corn flake crumbs
2 tbls minced dry onion
salt
pepper
3 tbls worchestire sauce
2 eggs
1/2 tsp garlic powder
mix all together really well....shape in small meatballs and bake in oven....I use a large cookie sheet....bake 15 minutes at 325
Remove immediately and put in 9 x 13 dish.....cover with sauce Serve slightly warmed....can even keep them in crock pot or on stove top in saucepan until ready to serve....
you will need two batches of the sauce to cover meatballsDoes anyone know of a really good meatball recipe with sauce?
Try...........ciao italia.........Does anyone know of a really good meatball recipe with sauce?
buy some meatloaf mix
ie. chopped veal pork and beef
mix the meat with 1 egg garlic if you like
seasoned bread crumbs
and the secret is add in just a little milk (it keeps them moist)
form them into palm sized balls and fry in s small amount of olive oil
make sure the pan is warmed with the oil first
brown the meat for a few minutes then keep rotating the meat until all the sides are browned
do not try to turn the meat too soon as it will stick to the pan and the meatball will fall apart
just gently nudge it with a spoon- if it moves easily you can turn it
while you are doing that
either use fresh tomatoes diced up or a large can of crushed whole tomatoes
add a little water to it and let it simmer while the meatballs brown
remove browned meatballs into pot with sauce and add a little crushed basil and if you like a splash of any white or red wine
lower the heat to simmer and cook anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours
with the lid slightly ajar on the pan
stir every so often
the longer it simmers the moister the meatballs and the better the sauce
